Once again there has been lots happening in our class.
In English the children have been busy writing out their Temple Run stories. This was broken down over three days and the children were guided on how to set out a story with a beginning, middle and end.
The end result was I was absolutely overjoyed with the stories I took home to read on Thursday night! The children had really put their heart and soul into writing as best as they could and it made for compelling reading! The children are busy now typing their stories into Word so that they can be presented into a class book which will be available for everyone to read. Well done Class 3P!
In Maths the children have been investigating number problems. Two days were spent outdoors creating number sentences using natural objects. The children had to ensure each object had a value of either units, tens or hundreds.
Following from this the children worked indoors firstly looking at Magic Number Squares, then alphabet name values and finally money word problems. They were initially baffled, then excited by the Magic Square found on the door and wall of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona. Take a look. In art the children worked on their cave painting designs. To make it feel like they were really drawing in a cave they stuck their paper on the underside of their desks and lay on their backs to draw the picture as if they were inside a cave! These pictures are displayed on the walls and ceiling of the classroom door archway to make that area feel like a cave too!
In science the children have been continuing to look at rocks, the rock life cycle, drawing and labelling rocks, scratch testing rocks and sorting them into different criteria. More and more rocks are still being brought in from home every week too, which is fantastic!
Forest Schools was particularly exciting this week as the children had the chance to finish their dens. As an extra challenge they could choose whether they wanted to sit inside it while we tested its waterproof ability! Needless to say every child relished the thought of getting wet and happily stayed inside while Mrs Tucker got her revenge and threw water all over the top! Luckily for the children their den building skills won the day and very few children went home soaking!
